Physiotherapy and allied health professionals occupy a growing segment of Cyprus’s healthcare employment market. Driven by an aging population, expansion of GeSY into specialist and rehabilitation services, and a culture shift toward preventive care and sports medicine, demand for qualified allied health practitioners has grown significantly since 2022.

Which Allied Health Roles Are in Demand

The most consistently in-demand allied health roles in Cyprus in 2026 are: physiotherapists (general and specialist), occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians and clinical nutritionists, medical laboratory scientists and radiographers. Physiotherapy is the largest employment segment — spanning hospital inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient MSK clinics, sports medicine facilities and private practices. The Ministry of Health has identified physiotherapy as a priority area for recruitment under GeSY’s specialist services expansion.

Salaries and Working Conditions

Physiotherapist salaries in Cyprus range from €22,000–€28,000 for newly qualified practitioners in public sector roles to €35,000–€55,000 for experienced specialists in private hospitals and sports clinics. Self-employed physiotherapists with established private practices can earn significantly more. Medical laboratory scientists at private pathology labs typically earn €26,000–€45,000. How to Get Registered and Find Work

Allied health professionals need to register with their relevant Cyprus professional body and have qualifications recognised. EU-qualified practitioners benefit from automatic recognition under the EU Professional Qualifications Directive. Positions are advertised through hospital careers pages, LinkedIn and direct approaches to private clinic groups. The EU EURES portal lists some Cyprus allied health vacancies, particularly for roles open to EU citizens from other member states.
